first impression – $65 foyer closet door revival

Love this. It’s a very cool idea, yet inexpensive way to dress up a closet door. Looks very modern. Buying this from Home Depot or a lumberyard company would cost quite a bit more.

Cech House Revival

The ugliest thing inside our 4 level split (were) the foyer closet doors, as you can see…

Weird-ugly-dirty-stupid doors is what I called them. But- they weren’t technically broken so I had to get crafty. I decided to play around with the power saw I got for my birthday this year 🎉💪🏼💁🏻

We purchased 8′ Cedar Wood planks that thin enough that I could cover them over the existing closet doors to save on $$$.

Another money savor was going with wood glue (and patience) since S O M E O N E wouldn’t let me buy a brad nailer and air compressor 😶

Bought a quart of a nice smokey gray paint to add some richness & hardware from the newly open IKEA 🙌🏼

Annnnnnnddddd

After all was said and done- the project was around $65-

  • Paint $10
  • Cedar Paneling $18/ pack (2)
  • Hardware $18 for both pieces

Replacing the old Macy’s formerly Rich’s department store
Finally! Though not until 2020

With hundreds of locations worldwide, Costco provides a wide selection of merchandise, plus the convenience of specialty departments and exclusive member services, all designed to make your shopping experience a pleasurable one.

According to Decaturish it was announced on June 7, 2017 that the future of North DeKalb Mall may finally be coming into focus.

A well-placed source informs Decaturish that Costco has officially green lighted a store at the location, with plans to open in March 2020. The source said that timeline is subject to change, however. The source says that the company’s regional vice president, Yoram Rubanenko, has been pushing to get the location approved for years.

Currently the mall is occupied by businesses with short-term leases. Earlier this year, Decaturish spoke with several tenants who said they were told that the company had plans to start renovation work this year, but they were recently notified that those plans were pushed back to 2018.

The reason for the delay wasn’t clear, but tenants have surmised it has to do with Sterling’s negotiations with Costco.  Tony Cade, owner of Challenges at the mall, is engaged tenant there. He previously said that based on what he’s learned, Sterling wants to pursue a mixed-use project like Atlantic Station in Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood.

The Path Foundation and City of Decatur have approved the Dearborn Park Trail extension without exploring the area or making any guarantees that they will protect the environmentally sensitive area. Dearborn Park Tail is home to Blue Herons Barred Owls, rabbits, amphibians, a couple of Snapping Turtles and the occasional coyote.
City of Decatur approved this project as part of  sponsorship of the Path Foundation for the Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Master Plan. The plan included Dearborn Park Trail and was based on a 20-year old DeKalb plan. It has been confirmed  DeKalb County was not contacted and even though the proposed trail goes through a large portion of unincorporated DeKalb.
Ed McBrayer, Executive Director, Path Foundation, indicated DeKalb residents outside of Decatur had their input, albeit back in DeKalb 2020 plan that was completed 17 years ago. He said that was sufficient input.
A few concerns includ,  when the path is built, there should be remediation of the surrounding area. When I spoke with Greta DeMayo, Principal Owner, Kaizen Collaborative, she confirmed that this is not a priority of the Path Foundation and it may or may not occur. The area around the pervious path that was built by City of Decatur in Dearborn has, for the last 5 years, left the surrounding area as a mosquito laden swamp.
